My dad took me to my first yoga class in 2014 back at home, in Peru. I remember the practice made me feel like home straight away. I was curious to explore the postures in my body and the breathing techniques taught in each class. But it was the feeling I had after each class, that kept me coming back over and over again.
There was a shift of mood, energy. I was automatically shifted to a more happy and peaceful state after every class.
I was still in Uni studying and working at the same time. But I had a feeling that I needed to do more yoga, keep learning and practicing. Eventually I found myself doing classes every single day, for 3 years.
I have always practiced some sort of artistic sports during my childhood. Gymnastics, artistic roller skating, dance, aerial silks.. (even doing all that, flexibility was not my thing) but the physical aspect of yoga felt familiar. I knew there was something else missing, I needed to delve deeper for my own practice.
So I decided to do my yoga teacher training as soon as I finished Uni.
I traveled to Australia to complete my 800hour YTT for a whole year in Byron Yoga Centre.
Probably one of the most transformational experiences and most amazing year of my life.
Deeply grateful for the loving wisdom my teachers have shared with me throughout the years.
It was back then that I discovered that the yoga I was doing was just the tip of the iceberg. There was a whole new world and approach to this practice that made so much sense to me. Yoga as a way of living, a new way of seeing and treating myself and other beings and the world around me. Yoga inspired me to live each moment more mindfully. I fell in love even more.
With all the knowledge and information I acquired I felt the need to share it. Hoping to help other people feel the way yoga makes me feel and make a positive impact in other’s lives, the same way yoga changed my life. That is my mission now.
I consider my classes are a combination between strength and flexibility. Movement and stillness. All about finding balance. Expect to flow and connect with your breath, and have a laugh or two on our way. I like to mix the practice and always provide different things for us to learn during class.
